The emo inside me weeps

As she stares back at me from the mirror

Every morning as I apply eyeliner, shadow and blush.

At the sight of earthen tones around my eyes

She cries out in agony

A travesty

Three years ago there would have been no blush

No modest show

BIG

BRIGHT

BOLD!

Blues and gold

Eyeliner Sharpie thick

Not some perfect pencil thin smudge

Meticulously applied as if worried someone might judge.

What will they do?

Nothing.

The emo inside me weeps,

As carefully I draw a fine line.
